"Excellent patient care"

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary / Maternity

(as the patient),

My littlest man is two weeks old and is back up to his birth weight, he's had a tough couple of weeks after he decided to make an early appearance, learning to feed, contending with my boobies ballooning, a couple of goes on the light beds to help his jaundice, lost count of the heel pricks but he's done really well and is a perfect, alert, strong little guy and I can't thank everyone who has looked after us, helped and supported us enough. The midwives at Wigan Hospital are amazing, from supporting my birth choices during delivery to helping me hand express through the night, letting me see my big boy who was recovering from chicken pox and letting him meet his brother and making it a priority to get us out in time for an important Birthday party and just being extremely caring and kind whatever time of the day or night it was and no matter how busy they were.

The infant feeding team are fantastic, very reassuring and helpful and of course the wonderful support and friendly faces of the breastfeeding, together peer supporters was a welcome boost.

Thank you for your most positive comments in respect of the Maternity Team and Infant Feeding Team. I will ensure that these are shared with them through the Head of Nursing for Child Health and Maternity Services.

May I take this opportunity to congratulate you and wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Kind regards

Thankyou, we also went back for a night on rainbow ward due to rebound jaundice and the staff there were very kind and attentive and I was very impressed and grateful to have a full size bed to sleep in and be kept fed and watered as a breatfeeding mum. Again we were supported by the infant feeding team as Michelle came up to see us and check how we were getting on and reassured me. It's never nice being in hospital but the staff on both wards made it much more tolerable and made me feel at ease and not isolated as I'd worried about.
