"Birth of my baby boy"

About: Lister Hospital

After trying to have a natural birth in the MLU I ended up in the CLU first for an epidural and then an emergency c section. The care I received from everyone in both units was exceptional. My husband and I were always informed of everything that was happening, and although scary at times, one particular midwife whom I wish I could mention their name went above and beyond the call of duty. My baby and I were both treated with antibiotics and had to stay in hospital for 5 days. All the midwives were so incredibly supportive and the one particular midwife that was with us during delivery/c-section came to visit us everyday. So grateful to all the staff at Lister who took care of both my baby and I and ensured he was brought into the world safely into our arms. We will be forever grateful.

Many thanks for the response Sonia - we were pleased to see that things went well for you despite not having the natural birthing experience that you had hoped for at first.

But your testimony shows the benefit of having co-located midwife and consultant-led services.

The really great thing to see, however, was how well you fet that you and your new baby son were cared for throughout your time at the Lister.

We've passed your feedback on to our maternity team colleagues, who we know will be delighted to read it.

In the meantime, please accept our best wishes for you and your now slightly bigger family for the future.
