It’s just over 15 weeks and 5 weeks since I had planned thoracic surgery on my left lung and right lung respectively in the Cardio-thoracic Unit.. I’m doing ok thanks to all the staff in Theatre, Wards; 37, 38, 39, CITU and Cardiac Outpatients.
From the initial discussions about surgical procedures with the Consultant; and visits to Cardiac Outpatients and to my subsequent discharges after the operations I felt I was in the hands of well trained professionals who were going to do everything possible to secure a positive outcome. Everyone has been friendly and helpful and did everything to make me feel at ease.
It is natural to be apprehensive about going into hospital for an operation. The mixture of lightheartedness and seriousness by those with whom I came into contact helped reduce the stress and, without doubt, enabled me to return for my second operation in a positive frame of mind.
During my visits and stays I came into contact, and communicated, with many members of staff, however, I realize there were lots of personnel who I didn’t meet face to face and who remain anonymous to me, but they were just as responsible for my well being as those I actual saw.
Thank you.
"In the hands of well trained professionals."
