"support for my son's learning"

About: Hallcroft Children's Centre

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was really behind at school and needed help with his numbers. He also struggled with talking to a teacher if something happened. He was getting picked on and didn't dare tell anyone at school. Emma helped him with his confidence and gave him a worry mouse! This helped loads he took it everywhere with him. He also had a emotion fan card that he took to school so he could show the teacher if he was sad, worried or happy ect. We no longer have any problems with him getting picked on. His learning has come on loads and I've learnt lots of stuff to do at home to help him. He really enjoyed making pizzas and playing with playdough. He loves emma coming round, stands at the window when he knows she's coming. Emma has always been on time and really good with my son, she's a great listener and has gave us lots of help and advice.

This is a really heart warming story that shows with a little help, support and the right knowledge that a significant difference can be made to both the child, parent and family. Its great to hear that the support has meant that your child is happier in school and relationships are blossoming.

It can be difficult for young children to express their thoughts and feelings and the worry mouse and cards appear to have been a great success. Emma will be thrilled to know she has made such a difference but it also needs to be acknowledged that you have played a huge part in these changes also. Home learning, play and interaction are all important parts of a developing a child's self esteem/ confidence and readiness for school and no one is better placed to do this than mums, dads and family.

Thank you for taking time out to share your story with us.
