"Very pleased with sunshine ward"

About: Kingston Hospital

Megane was admitted with a impacted bowel . We received a phone call from a lovely nurse on Saturday to ask her to be brought in . I explained it may take a while as we were not local which was not a problem. When we arrived on the ward we were greeted by a nurse. I cannot praise this member of staff highly enough from start to finish they were amazing . Nothing was to much trouble, they were always happy, funny and bubbly, they never looked hassled or worn out . The nurse was amazing, they had Megane in giggles all the time when they came to the bed to see her. They encouraged her to get up and walk around absolutely amazing. The nurse was very encouraging when it came to Megane drinking her Movical and it was just brilliant the way they were with her.

In the evening we had a nurse/sister? again amazing , Megane needed some pain relief in the evening , the nurse explained that it would need to be prescribed by the Dr and sorted it out straight away , Megane was even administered her pain relief whilst I slept! Very happy with the care the nurse provided to my daughter . The nurse was encouraging , happy and caring.

On Sunday evening we had another nurse, brilliant ! Cannot fault them either, the third nurse was the nurse that helped with our discharge, they were very busy with other patients but kept me informed all the way , again very happy , bubbly amazing . On discharge the nurse informed me if I have any concerns to ring day or night which i did ( see other e-mail)

These 3 nurses made Megane's stay enjoyable and made us both feel comfortable in the hospital. I did not feel like a hospital . The children were encouraged to go and play in the play room or outside. The nurses were more than happy to watch Megane if I needed to pop out for a minute , visitors were made to feel welcome.

I also need to mention the consultant again brilliant with Megane , Nothing scary or medical was discussed in front of her , everything was said in easy to understand terms so we was clear of the treatment Megane ws going to receive and what would happen if it didn't work. The consultant is brilliant , also a Dr. Another doctor on the ward did not treat Megane but from what i saw was just as good with patients, especially a baby that was on our ward. The play room staff brought stuff to Megane's bed and made her feel welcome and provided lots of entertainment for Megane.

All the nurses that were working through them 2 days were brilliant and I wanted to let you know how much we appreciate all that they done and the care we received .

Please share this email with them and please make sure the first nurse sees it ( That bit is from Megane !

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, glad to hear that Megane's stay in hospital was a positive experience. I have passed your comments onto the Sunshine Ward Team.
