"Social Worker for Deaf British Sign Language users in Stockport, Nr Manchester"

About: Stockport Stockport PCT

(as a service user),

Greetings,

I am Deaf BSL service user, I have found out that our (Stockport) social worker for the deaf is on annual leave for 2 weeks (1st-15th March 2010) and the service at Stopford House has been closed. meaning no services for 2 weeks. There is no replacement?. Meaning do Deaf BSL have to struggle with stress levels wanting their domestic households contacts to translate for the person also to translate the letter we receive. I find it disheartened and no wonder the percentage is above 'normal' that Deaf BSL users are being held back and causes behaviour problem among the community and the trust does effect.

Hope you can able sort out the issue.

Yours Faithfully

Dear dhc It is correct that this service user’s social worker is on leave for two weeks and the sessions provided are suspended for that period. However, support is available during that period via Stockport Council’s Contact Centre on 0161 217 6024 (Minicom), or text 07797 806 626 or email stockportdirect@stockport.gov.uk On an additional note, you may find it useful to know that we do have BSL videos on our YouTube channel about a whole range of council services and also on our website (n.b. we have recently upgraded our CMS and we are still in the process of transferring all of the videos across)
