"Great treatment and care"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

I cannot rate this ward highly enough. I only had to spend one night in but during that time I was treated very well. The nurses were very caring and were always prompt to attend to me when needed, I was always met by a smile and kind word. They took my obs at regular intervals and I felt that my health was carefully monitored.

As well as the nurses there were other staff who were equally friendly. The tea person made frequent visits and even made my peppermint tea.

The doctors were excellent.

My only slight criticism is that it took a long time to be discharged and I did feel a bit forgotten about. Having been told I was likely to leave around 2pm I didn't then leave until gone 5pm and this was just waiting for my meds to be delivered from the pharmacy. I was initially visited by the pharmacist at 11am.

Response from Debra Johns, Patient Experience Officer, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust

Thank you for taking the time to leave your kind words with us. We are so glad that you had such a positive experience within the Gynaecology Department but are sorry to note that there was a delay in your discharge due to waiting for your medication.

Please be assured that I will share both your positive and negative comments with the teams involved.

May I take this opportunity to wish you well for the future.

Kind regards.
