"Appendicitis whilst heavily pregnant"

About: North Middlesex Hospital

I had a ruptured appendix unbeknown to me whilst in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy.Had it not of been to the quick thinking & action taken by the amazing staff at this hospital, I would not be writing this review. Not only did they save my life but also that of my unborn baby & for that I am eternally grateful. After having a blood test it was revealed that my inflammation markers were extremely high, an indication of an infection, after a 6 hour operation my appendix was removed alongside my secum & part of my bowel, I woke up in intensive care...miraculously still pregnant. The surgical consultant who performed the operation was fantastic, they & their team were phenomenal up to my discharge some 10 weeks later. The midwives on the labour ward kept me upbeat & optimistic even when my son was in neonatal unit.i honestly cannot fault this hospital & look forward to having another baby here.
