About: Horton General Hospital Horton General Hospital Banbury OX16 9AL
Firstly, A&E staff were brilliant, they treated me in a dignified, timely and humorous manner meaning that I was much more relaxed about my wrist injury. They gave me an outpatients appointment for the fracture clinic the following day, unfortunately this is where my opinion went downhill.
I was seen on time, but the consultant I saw was rude and unhelpful. They did not introduce themself and therefore I had no idea who they were or even knew their name. The consultant simply looked at an X-ray from the previous day and sent me on my way. I began to say how my wrist has since become numb, I was having tingling in my fingers, the pain had intensified, only to be told it was irrelevant as they "weren't sure there was anything on the x-ray". I felt humiliated the way I was spoken to and was made to feel that I was a waste of time. I was sent home with no date for a follow-up and in the days since have been dealing with increasing intensity of pain in my wrist and constant numbness. I do not understand why consultants feel they can treat people so rudely, I know they need to see many people and reach time targets but that is not an excuse for rudeness or not to listen to a patient.
