"Discharge took over 10 hours and left still in..."

About: Southampton General Hospital

I arrived by ambulance, crews brilliant, A & E and AMU brilliant, placed in a beautiful clean room D 10,the staff brilliant, food very acceptable, stopped for 6 days. Then on my final day, I was told by a consultant at 1030 I could go home, I left the hospital at 2010 nearly 10 hours of waiting given various reasons and blaming different departments for the delay, the nurses were embarrassed about the lengthy time for discharge.

More important I was discharged in awful pain with no medication prescribed.

Even more distressing I left hospital with the same pains as I was admitted with, the reason I believe, was because the cause was not relevant to the department I was being treated, ie I was in for Gastro problem but turned out to be Spinal diagnosis, therefore I now needed to go through the whole process again starting by going back to my GP.

I am still in much pain and wasted 6 days of NHS money 6 days of my precious life and gained absolutely nothing.

I will repeat, 10 hours waiting for discharge, I am still in pain with no prescription to elevate the problems, and given no referral, total discharge with the same symptoms I was originally admitted with, I feel let down and very depressed with the outcome.
