Having arrived at A&E at the suggestion of NHS111, I saw that there was a 3-hour wait and therefore sat down prepared for a long haul. Yet within the next 60mins I had been triaged, had an ECG, been admitted to the acute assessment unit, hooked to monitors, had a line in and had seen a doctor. Someone even raced round and found me a sandwich, as I had missed any food that was going. It was amazingly fast and I was so relieved.
I received the best of care from very kind staff, who took the time to explain exactly what was going on and why. Conquest often gets a bad press but I felt that the acute assessment ward needs a big pat on the back and I, for one, was grateful.
"Fast, efficient care"
