It was admitted to Wexham Park in a bit of a rush and found myself on the operating theatre - the very same day!
A&E recognised the severity of my condition (blocked bowel) and called an Out-of-Hours Surgeon to operate - in the small hours of the morning.
I was all a huge shock, but a huge relief to realise that the had they delayed opeating on the bowel - I ight not have survived the night!
The surgery has been a huge success - though I'm still adapting to the use of a Colostomy Bag!
My wounds healed quickly and I was quickly back on my feet.
I cannot praise enough the entire surgery team - absolutely flawless surgery - an excellent team!
I was in post surgery care (Ward 11) for a further 13 days though, as they carefully monitoried my recovery and got be reestablished with eating and functioning bowels.
It was not straightforward - but those nurses and care assistants cared to my every need day-and-night.
I cannot understate the fabulous professionalism and tender care that they provided.
There was a time when I was 'spaced out' - but I was still very aware of the dilgent care they were providing - making sure i was well medicated and in the minimum of pain.
Similarly, in the days of recuperation - they were there every hour of every day - monitoring me and encouraging me to pull though and get back of fitness. I was probably a grumpy patient particlary in the days of 'Nil by mouth' - but I always new I was in safe caring hands.
I cnnot praise enough the Wexham park Surgical Team and the Ward 11 staff - of all disciplines - who so lovingly cared for me - just as if I was family!
Thank you, from the bottom-of-my heart for saving my life and caring for me in such a loving and caring way.
I will forever be in your debt!
Well done!
Keep up that excellent work - its very, very much appreciated!
