I found myself in a time of difficulty last year, and was referred by my Dr to speak to a psychologist in Lerwick. I met two super staff, who made me feel very listened too, and confident that they could offer me help, when I felt really desperate.
Unfortunately I missed one appointment, and then the person I saw was off, so I was referred to somebody else. I then attended a different clinic, where I saw another practitioner. While they were very understanding, I felt like the suggestions they made to help me, were really misjudged, and when I really needed help, they weren't useful to me.
I understand that they are many different techniques involved, but the ones suggested to me, were bizarre and didn't seem to be based on anything clinical. I left very disheartened, went back to my Dr, and after a long period, with high Anti depressants, feel ok again. It was awful at the time though, and if this is the standard of care, to people in desperate need, I think it needs reassessed.
