"Great experience at the medical investigation unit"

About: St Helier Hospital

I went for a glucose tolerance test today, being pregnant, and was seen by a nurse who was very professional and friendly, and made me feel at ease. The nurse went out of their way to deliver a good service, e.g. they proactively asked if I'd had my week 28 antenatal blood test, when I went for GTT; and when I realised I had forgotten that I needed a blood test at 28 weeks the nurse took a sample and advised me to get the forms. This saved me a wasted journey to come back later in the week for another blood test. The nurse was very personable and funny which made me feel at ease when they took the blood.

As soon as I saw the nurse, I remembered them from over 2 years ago when I had a GTT whilst pregnant with my first son. I had nearly fainted and the nurse located a hospital bed for me to rest and made sure I was ok. I wished back then I had filled in a feedback form but didn't do so. So I am this time.

I wish all nurses could be like this.

In addition the midwife was really helpful and didn't make me feel bad for forgetting my blood forms, even though I was probably disturbing them as they had to go to another room to go and print them out. The midwife was also v kind.
