"Out Patient Appointments"

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

It appears that the department does not pay attention very much when a patient says that they work, and therefore they would prefer appointments either early in the morning or towards the end of the day. Informing them that you have to take a day off work unpaid seems to fall on deaf ears.

When booking an appointment you need to discuss the times with the patients - most of us who actually work have to take time off and that means you need to discuss the times with us, and not just unilaterally book times for us.

The fact that you have only one consultant surgeon in your department (orthapaedics) is not my problem. A better system would be to book OAPs in the middle of the day and the rest of us get either early morning or late day appointments.

I have shared your comments with the clinical leaders, who can discuss with their teams your ideas about appointment bookings.
