"Recent catatact operation."

About: Nuffield Health, Shrewsbury Hospital

I recently had a cataract operation at the Nuffield hospital. This involved a pre-op visit then going as a day patient for the operation. I went as an NHS patient.

At all times I was treated with courtesy and respect. I was asked if I had any holidays planned so the op. could be timed to fit in.

A few days pre-op there was a telephone chat to check that I was fit for operation.

The system of dealing with ten cataract ops. in the afternoon was very efficient and my operation was quickly over. There were pre and post op. checks for pulse, temperature and blood pressure.

I did feel cared about at this hospital because all members of staff were pleasant, gave reassurance when needed and did their work efficiently.

Although those are the main requirements, it did help that the hospital itself is bright snd comfortable. The waiting rooms had daylight windows; no waiting in dark corridors.

I have no heaitation in recommending to others.

Response from Nuffield Health, Shrewsbury Hospital

Dear Anne,

Thank you for this excellent feedback, which I look forward to sharing with the members of staff who assisted you during your recent visit to our hospital.

Our NHS e-Referral patients form a key part of our care within the community and I am pleased that we met both your clinical and patient care needs. I also note your comments regarding the ambience of the building we, during the design of our hospitals, specifically try to make the establishment as comfortable as possible so I am pleased to read that this helped make the difference to your care.

On behalf of the senior management team thank you for taking the time to review your experience on the NHS choices website.

With Kind Regards,

Oliver Barker
