I had an appointment on Monday 9th May 2016 for a vaginal ultrasound scan followed by a hysteroscopy. Naturally I was very apprehensive as most women would be. I arrived at the ultrasound dept and went in at exactly the right time which helped as sometimes the wait makes you more anxious. The scan was done without any issues and the person who did it could not have been more professional and kind. They said the results would go straight to the gynaecology dept. I had a cup of coffee and then went for my next appointment. I gave my name to the reception and before I could even sit down, I was called through for my appointment! Amazing service in a busy dept. I was told that the scan showed the lining of my womb was thicker than normal so I had to have a hysteroscopy. I was given the choice of coming back and having a general anaesthetic or having the procedure done there and then with the help of gas and air if needed. I was very worried about this, but was talked through everything and reassured that everybody was there to help and ease me through the process. I had it done then as I didn't want to wait and I didn't want to have an anaesthetic either. The doctor and nurses were amazing. They were all so kind and caring and could not have helped me more considering I was terrified. It was done before I knew it. I can't praise the staff enough for how they treated me that day, it's something I will always remember and appreciate. All too often the NHS and its staff are criticised and don't get the praise they deserve. Well all I have is praise for the dept, fabulous, caring and hardworking staff and generally an excellent hospital. Anybody who is due to go to the hospital and especially this dept need have no fears, you will be well cared for.
"Fantastic dept"
