Have been visiting Medway with eighty year old father for treatment including surgery on legs and leg Ulcers.
Have always found the staff to be kind and considerate, from the cleaner who showed me where to drop an out of hours form, to the helpful staff on the security desk, the admin staff, who although very busy have time to advise and listen to requests. Not to mention the nursing staff who carry out their work with patience and understanding right through to the Clinicians and Specialists who take time to explain the procedures and most importantly listen to the impact the condition is having on the patient.
Have used the Canteen whilst waiting and found it to be clean and welcoming.
The longest wait I have had for the car park is 15 minutes but I have also seen inconsiderate parking, a woman who blocked 3 space without thinking then complained she had received a ticket. If she had engaged her brain when arriving then she would have helped others rather than hinder...and I think that sums the hospital up quite succinctly. Staff are great but it is let down by the selfishness of some of the patients and visitors, like running the gauntlet of cars parked in the ambulance drop off zone and the smokers who clog up the outside areas...Please do more to Ban smoking on site...Unbelievable to see ill patients struggling outside in night clothes for a cigarette !
Keep up the good work, I for one am glad you care.
