"What a great service we all get from the NHS."

About: Dorset County Hospital

I know people run the down the NHS, but if they saw it from my side, they would think again. Consider this I saw Dr and they sent me for a CT scan etc, 2 weeks ago. Dr at Gastroenterolgy and team saw the results last Tuesday (12/04/16). That day I had a phone call from my Doctor to come to them for blood and urine tests on the (18/04/16). Today (19/04/16) had a phone call at 9 am, to go in to see Dr at 12.30pm that day to explain the situation. Then just before I went, the post arrived with the next appointment (20/04/16) at 9am, to see a Dr for the full works complete bloods etc, and get results while I wait. So went in at 9am (20/04/16) had bloods etc done within 10 minutes. Sat back in waiting room, again within 10 minutes consultant called me in, they gave me a full check out, by which time the blood results were back, job done just biopsy etc left. This morning (21/04/16) had a phone call from the Respiratory Nurse Practitioner, a member of Dr's Respiratory team to have more tests on Monday 25/04/16. So Monday at 10am I arrived at the Respiratory unit to be met for the blood tests for TB. They then talked me through all what happens next.

This is what has been happening since then on Friday 29/04/16, I had a phone call to say that the results were back and that I do not have TB, there is still a 1% chance that I do (test takes about 8wks). I now have my next appointment 18/05/16 for a follow up. Just had a call from my GP, 10/05/16. To say that back in 2003 I was disharged by nephrology, as tests done on 02/2012 was now stable - PCR 18.7. Nephrology advice to refer me back if PCR ~ reached over 100. So as the tests I've just had show that now as of 10/05/16, gone over 100. They have now, as asked referred me back to Nephrology.

Dr Phillips, Natalie Harper and there team (respiratory), Dr Shutt, Dr Bridger and Dr Jupp and there team (Gastroenterolgy), Dr and team (Haematology) and the Diagnostic Imaging unit along with my GP'S and the team at Portesham, along with Consultants, Doctors, nurses and the rest of the hospitals dedicated staff, that have looked after me for the last 58 years and God willing will continuing to do so. How's that for the great service we all get Free of charge. (I know that we pay indirectly by Tax and NI). But I can't thank DCH and all the NHS enough for the last 58 years. All the staff definitely deserve this commendation and they certainly deserve to be recognised. This also applies to all the MHT at the Hughes unit, Bridport Hospital. I have been with them since 2005. Without there special care I would not be here today. I still see them regally, and CRT member Kate Hathaway.

Thank you for posting such wonderful comments on how well you have been cared for by not only our staff at Dorset County Hospital, but your GP and community services as well.

It really gives everyone that works in the NHS a boost when people like you take the time to let us know when we are doing things well.

I was so pleased to read how efficiently and seamlessly the services have worked together for you to deliver great care. I am very grateful to you for taking the time to share your feedback; it will be really appreciated by all the people and teams you have mentioned and I will make sure that they receive a copy of it.

Best wishes, Sarah Silverton, Patient & Public Experience Lead, Dorset County Hospital.
