My first son was born by emergency section at LRI - he, and I, were pretty traumatised by the whole experience and were having quite a struggle getting to grips with breastfeeding (and sleeping! ). We were made to feel so welcome at St Mary's - from the point we arrived to find a delicious lunch had been kept for us, through to the wonderful care at night time when the staff would do all possible to allow an exhausted mum even an hours sleep. I honestly don't think we would have succeeded in establishing breastfeeding had we not spent 3 nights there.
Loved the communal eating - made two very good friends that we still see today (4 years later).
Second son born again at LRI, but we escaped to St Mary's as soon as we could. Allowed us a few days to bond before returning to life as a family of 4! Knew what we were doing a bit better this time, had lots of support still with breastfeeding (though no-one actually picked up his posterior tongue tie that was snipped soon after) - such patient staff.
Thanks to all the amazing staff who looked after us both times -I'd recommend a stay at St Mary's to any mum.
