"Feedback for Meadvale Ward, Nuffield Ward, AMU..."

About: East Surrey Hospital

East Surrey has had a poor reputation in the past but after having 2 experiences over the last 6 months with my Mum being rushed in, I can honestly say that East Surrey was excellent and deserves praise.

My Mum was rushed into A&E 5 months ago and I had to dash from London.

As soon as I got there the A&E Receptionist was excellent and took me straight through to be with my Mum, no waiting or hanging around.

The A&E Doctor was brilliant with my Mum, they treated her with kindness, dignity and was very thorough.

They were transferred to AMU who looked after so well before being transferred to Nuffield.

The team on Nuffield really looked after my Mum to the extent that it was her birthday and they woke her up singing Happy Birthday to her which just shows how much they go that extra mile and care.

Nuffield would not let Mum come home until she was fully fit and could cope on her own.

Thank you to all the Doctors, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Physios.

My Mum was again rushed last week and again received the same excellent treatment in A&E and AMU.

The A&E Doctor rang me to ask lots of questions about my Mum to help her diagnose the problem.

Mum was admitted to AMU who did another great job and then to Meadvale.

Debbie Bendell (Ward Manager) and her team where fantastic in their care, professionalism and sheer hard work.

Again the Occupational Therapists and Physios got my Mum up and about and home but not before being fully assessed.

Thank you.

Also, the food is amazing, hats off to the Catering Team, the soup is to die for!!

So bearing in mind the area that East Surrey has to cover and volume of people that use it I would say that based on those 2 experiences the hospital is excellent.

Dear Anonymous

Thank you so much for your praise, it is encouraging to hear that your mother received a postiive experience throughour her stay.

I will of course share this with the teams who will be delighted to hear that the hardwork they put in each day has made such an impression. I hope your mother is now recovering from her admission.

kind regards

Nicola Shopland

Divisional Chief Nurse Medicine
