What I liked

I was a patient at the Princess Alexandra Materinty Wing and my treatment here was marvellous. My baby decided to arrive early (I had booked elsewhere) yet the staff sorted everything out and looked after both me and my baby extremely well. The cleaning staff were marvellous and I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the wards particularly the bathrooms. Staff were kind and professional and gave me and my baby a very good start.

What could be improved

Only one comment from an overstressed ward manager spoilt an otherwaise perfect stay. Whilst still numb and weak from a spinal I called the nurse as my baby was crying and I couldn't pick him up. They were very short and said they would send someone through "who had more time". Happily a healthcare assistant then came in and was very helpful. This was unfortunate as all other staff members had been wonderful.

Anything else?

The staff worked well as a team and made me feel safe and well looked after. I would like to heartily congratulate the materinty team (also the community team who picked things up post discharge). I would happily recommend this unit to anyone.
