My daughter was born in the new midwife led unit (pool birth) 2 weeks a go and it was a fantastic experience. My care throughout pregnancy and labour has been excellent. The midwives listened to and supported my wishes throughout my labour and birth so it could not have been any better.
I have found with all three of my babies that there isn't the same continuity of care after discharge from hospital as there is throughout pregnancy. Every single community midwife that I have seen has been lovely so there are no issues with the level of care offered, but feel that seeing a familiar face after birth would be more reassuring. I do however understand that this can be difficult given the specific days on which postnatal appointments are required, so still wouldn't hesitate to recommend the overall service.
"Excellent care throughout"
