"Attitude of senior staff in charge Ward 4..."

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

My grandson was in ward 4 room 1 up to 23rd April having physio rehab after being transferred from Salford Royal,Manchester where he was being treated for merningitus ,ensephalitus and TB on the brain he had been in hospitall 12 weeks prior to Dewsbury..He still had no control over his bowel action so a side room with its own toilet was the best option as he was on crutches. The main nurse wanted to move him to a ward ,we disagreed but instead of discussing it rationaly, they came in his room and raised their voice and said had we got a problem. It was their whole attitude to us.

The ward manager has the responsibility of ensuring that all patients on the ward are appropriately placed according to their condition and needs. Nevertheless, we would not wish to cause unneccessary anxiety, and would be pleased to arrange for the matter to be investigated if the family would like to contact us directly with appropriate details.
