"MRI lost!"

About: Nottingham Woodthorpe Hospital

I attended Woodthorpe Hospital for an assessment of my vertigo and subsequently an MRI.

The hearing specialist and Doctor were professional and have no complaints in this area.

However after having my MRI scan and told to wait 2 weeks for the result (to ensure I did not have any neuromas etc) after 3 weeks I contacted the Doctors secretary.

Just to get hold of the Secretary took several days and numerous telephone calls! After 5 weeks I rang again, understandably waiting for test results is always worrying but the Secretary clearly had no regard for this. I was told that the Doctors secretary had left, according to the new secretary they had left everything in a "complete mess" (not my problem really) and MRI scans were in cupboards in no order and not clear whether they had been reviewed by a Doctor or not! After several more calls and complaining to the Secretary they found my result but said they had to send a letter, even though I had now waited nearly 2 months! So in summary I have no complaints about the treatment as such, but the management of care post consultation was awful. If there were issues with the performance of this particular secretary this should of been dealt with by HR , once they realised that files etc had been left in a mess and patients were having to wait weeks for results, someone in the management team should have allocated more resources to deal with the problem. I have since spoken to several other people about the Hospital and all have mentioned the issue with getting hold of the Doctors secretaries to make an appointment in the first place. The phones appear to be on permanent voice mail.
