"Service which was above and beyond"

About: Darent Valley Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

I took my son there for the fourth time in as many weeks. Initially I thought we were going to be "fobbed off" yet again but then the sister in A & E went out of her way to help us. She spoke to the doctor on our behalf, checked previous records of our attendance there, then sat and explained to us in such a way that my son understood why he was in pain and why it was happening. Up to that point my son was in pain and scared but he now feels much happier and understands why he is in pain.

After our previous visits I complained about the service we received and after 5 weeks my son is still in pain and the situation seems to have got worse. However today marked a turning point for my son and although nothing will change quickly he understands why and what he can do,

I think that she went much further than her job required and wish to say a massive thank you to her and for all her help - she cannot imagine what a difference her help has been.

Kind Regards

Dear Kimlescam

Thank you taking the time to post this lovely feedback regarding a recent visit to the Children's A&E Department. It is good to read that a staff member made such a difference to your son, that he is now much happier. Your comments have been passed onto the A&E Department.

With best wishes
