I've a complex medical and surgical history. Due to continual constant internal infection and pain I've had to attend Colchester A&E. I've always been treated with great kindness and compassion. Several occasions I've been given drips with multiple medications to relieve or heal infections. Results show I do have infections. I'm then admitted and told a bed is waiting for me on the ward.
One time I was admitted given no medication on the ward except my own pain meds. Did not see a nurse or doctor so I allowed myself to be discharged without the tests or procedures I'd been promised. Another time, a doctor I'd never met before, discharged me on my way to the ward! I was given oral antibiotics. The intravenous antibiotics were removed. My hubby who is also battling a lifelong illness had only just got home. When he had to go back to the hospital to collect me.
In my experience A&E is efficient and co-ordinated but when I leave there for the ward I may not get any more treatment. There are major problems with the handover process between consultants and the doctors between A&E and the treatment and test provider.
I'm still ill. Constant internal infection. I need help.
