Are some members of staff heartless or they don't really care?

I'm 14 weeks pregnant with fibroids and since yesterday I have several abdominal pains so I went to see my gp who called the appropriate department (Milton Keynes hospital) insisting on the fact that I was really in pain and concerned about my pregnancy (such pain can lead to a miscarriage) hoping that I will obtain an appointment immediately but instead, the member of staff over the phone just said that it can be due to the fibroids or a miscarriage and just said to take some paracetamol and gave me an appointment in 7 days. I'm still wondering if some members of staff are heartless because, as an expectant mother, I just wanted to have a scan to make sure that my baby is still fine.
