"Ultrasound scan"

I had the misfortune to attend an ultra sound scan on the 09/05/16 at the RVI.

I had an appointment at 09:00 & upon my arrival was sent to the relevent waiting room, this room was relatively full. As I waited the room emptied as my fellow patients went for their scans.

As im still waiting (approx 09:30) the waiting room begins to fill again & empties again, still no call for myself.

There was no communication from any member of staff as to the nature of the delay & why this deley only seemed to be affecting myself.

At approx 10:00 & after an hour wait I decided enough was enough & requested that my appointment was re-booked to a time when the hospital could find the time to treat me.

The service at the RVI might be wonderful if you have serious life threatening conditions, but if you have a sore foot its terrible.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on our Musculoskeletal Services at the RVI. We have discussed your feedback with our Radiology colleagues who wish to apologise unreservedly for this delay in service, the member of staff who should have delivered the scan was delayed, but you should have been made aware of this and alternative arrangement made to perform your scan in a timely manner.

As a course of action following your incident, a team briefing has been held to discuss this incident and how it should have been prevented. We would wish to assure you that this does not reflect the service normally provided by the ultrasound department and should you require the services of the department in the future we would anticipate your experience would be more timely. We are very appreciative of this feedback as it has provided us with opportunity to reflect on this incident and consider how we can prevent similar incidents in the future.
