What I liked
Nothing
What could be improved
I visited Langton Ward to visit an elderly relative and left quite stunned by what I saw.
Several patients had dementia but the ones who were perfectly sound mentally had no stimulation whatsoever.
There were no newspapers or magazines for them to read and teh so called day room was actually a storage room. The clock had even stopped and, despite repeated requests, no one had replaced the batteries.
My relative also had to endure being woken most nights by another patient on teh bay with Alzheimer's.
Anything else?
Management needs to show some interest in the running of the ward and offer some sort of stimulation for long-stay elderly patients.
"Nothing"
