"Concerns about lack of support from Somerset Partnership NHS Mental Health"

About: Somerset NHS Foundation Trust / Adult community mental health

(as the patient),

I want to highlight my bad experience of Community Mental Health Services in the Taunton and how I think they leave patients in dangerous situations. I was found by Police not feeling well and very suicidal, taken to Musgrove Park Hospital unconscious, when awoke assessed by a doctor/social worker, I stated I felt suicidal, they told me they would find me some support from Foundation House Recovery Team and Crisis Team.

I have been home for 3 weeks suffering with thoughts of taking my life, have heard from nobody. I rang to find about if I was on a list but nobody knew anything and they said I was not entitled to any help/support.

I think Mental Health Services in Taunton/Yeovil are taking risks with people's lives because of lack of resources and bad attitudes/low morale of certain staff. I found them extremely unhelpful, when trying to get myself the treatment I need.

My experience is of Mallard Court/Foundation House Community Mental Health Teams.

Dear Miss Millie

I was very sorry to read about your recent experience of our mental health services, and that they have not met your expectations. I would very much like to look into this matter for you so if you could call the PALS team on 01278 432022, or email us at pals@sompar.nhs.uk. I am very keen to see what we can do to help.

In the meantime, here are a couple of contact details that you may find helpful. MINd helpline can be contacted on 0300 304 7000 and The Samaritans can be called on Tel No. 116 123. Both of these organisations offer telephone support which you might like to access.

If you would like some support in contacting the PALS team or making a complaint, SWAN Advocacy are based in Taunton and would be very happy to offer assistance. They can be contacted on 03333 447928.

with kind regards
