"First experience"

About: University Hospital Of North Durham

I was referred to gynaecology following an appointment with my GP. I attended the outpatients department for an appointment, the doctor explained everything they could do if i was happy with it, which I was, and it turned out I had cervical ectropion, and had my cervix cauterised. As I am only 20 years old, I have never had any procedures like this performed, and I cannot praise the staff enough. They were so compassionate and caring, they reassured me throughout the whole procedure and made me feel at ease. I then suffered from extreme heavy bleeding for a couple of days after which worried me, so I rang the hospital just to put my mind at ease. I was told that if I could get to the hospital the same doctor that performed my procedure would be happy to see me on the ward.

Overall I am very satisfied with the care I received from all staff over this period of time.
