"Pain Team Referral - In Patient"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

Currently on Ward 4 as no bed available on the 2's (neurosurgery). I have been an in patient since 16th April (3 weeks) awaiting neurosurgery, however the pain is increasing daily to an unbearable level.. not able to sleep until my body collapses for the past week, lucky if I manage 2 hours a day. Nurses & neuro team have been requesting for the pain team to come & increase/adjust the pain medications for the past 12 days now & still no sign of them, they have repeatedly put in requests. I am here in tears & horrendous pain on a Friday (well now Saturday1am) knowing I have to somehow get through the weekend.. how I will manage I do not know as the pain team do not work weekends. I cannot believe I have been left this long in such pain (head/brain) without them coming out. I will be issuing a formal complaint on Monday as an animal wouldn't be left to suffer in this way. The nurses have been fantastic but of course their hands are tied & they cannot makes medication changes. I will be here longer yet until the neurosurgery takes place, I cannot even think about spending it in this pain for any longer.

Thank you for letting us know Michelle - if you are happy to do so, please can we ask that you contact our PALS team on 01772 522972 so that they can liaise with Neurosurgery on your behalf.
