I have been attending the Ophthalmology, Glaucoma Clinic for four years during which time I can honestly say I have always received an exceptionally high standard of service.

Starting with the reception staff and those behind the scenes, who are always busy so you may have to wait a short time, but in all occasions they have been very friendly and helpful and this despite some occasional glitches with the technology.

The waiting area has vastly improved over the years especially with the addition of the coffee shop. Ok you may have to wait a while at times to be seen but that pails into insignificance when you consider what’s be offered to you as part of the NHS. A free service that surpasses all expectations with access to some of the most sophisticated equipment one can imagine.

The staff well that’s too much of a generic term as they are all specialist in their own right, it’s their people skills that make the visit to the department pleasant and words of explanation or encouragement to put you at your ease while test are being undertaken.

Then to my consultant, they have helped enormously over the term. Their explanations at the start of my referral dampening down and allaying the fears I had. One thing I can’t emphasise more strongly is the importance of continuity and continuing the process with one individual who is looking after you and I very much appreciated this. Their professional approach and knowledge and experience emphasised to me the quality of care being afforded to me. No matter what question I posed there was always a helpful explanation and explained in a way that could be understood.

I consider myself to be thankful that I have now been discharged and want to thank everyone who made my outpatient appointments a pleasant experience so a big personal thank you to everyone.
