"ICU care at Leeds"

About: Leeds General Infirmary / Accident and emergency St James's University Hospital

(as a relative),

My elderly aunt was taken into hospital following an assessment by the ambulance service at home. She was initially taken to St James's where she was cared for by the staff in the resus ward. Following this, she was transferred to the ICU at the LGI.

The care that she received during her final hours by the doctors and nurses was faultless. Everyone was extremely caring, sensitive and kind to her (and us) and we were so fortunate that she was kept out of pain.

All of the staff took the time to explain things to us and answer our endless questions. They looked after us to by offering us drinks and allowing us to stay on the ward long beyond the visiting hours so that we could be with our aunt during her final moments.

It was very heart-warming to read your post, I am very pleased to know that at such a sensitive time you were treat with respect and compassion.

I have passed your post onto the Head of Nursing and Matron for the relevant areas so that they are aware of yours and your families experience. I have asked that they share your post with their teams.

Hello Rosie,

Thank you for getting in touch. It would be lovely if you could pass on our experiences to the staff involved - we really couldn't fault the care in the hospital and are so grateful for all of their kindness.
