"Disappointed"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

First child and didn't know what to expect. Was left in my room for hours not being seen to or cared for. Staff are rude and don't seem to enjoy their job. Met 3 lovely members of staff all the same. Medical students seemed to be nicer than all the other staff. Found blood coming out of me rang my bell and no one actually came or explained what it could be. Ended up having an emergency c section and one staff member was fantastic explained everything, what to expect in theatre so put my mind at ease. Shame all the other staff can't reach that level. Every nurse told me something different what was wrong with me. You just seem to get put in your room and left.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your first child, I can imagine how precious this time is for you and your family. Can I thank you for finding the time to share your experience with us - I am very sorry that it was so disappointing, this is certainly not how we would want any of our patients to feel.

It is disappointing to hear that you received mixed messages and standards of care from our staff, it is also very concerning to know that you found them to be rude ? That’s unusual feedback for us and one that warrants immediate investigation.

I would like the opportunity to speak to the staff involved in looking after you in order to find out what happened. I can’t unfortunately do that whilst your post remains anonymous. Please email me with your details and I can start looking into this straight away, my email is Annie.Laverty@nhct.nhs.uk.

Thanks again for your part in working with us to help us improve care.

With all best wishes,

Annie
