Oestrodial Implants

About: St John's Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I am under NHS Lothian and have been on treatment for severe PMDD for over 15 years, having oestodial implants every 6 months and treated successfully. However over the last few years the original manufacturer stopped making these and I ended up having to travel to London every 6 months at a cost of £600 to get the treatment I needed. I then got agreement from NHS Lothian that I could have the treatment in Scotland under a new supplier of an unlicensed implant.

My last implant was a few weeks ago and I have just been informed by pharmacy that this other supplier has also stopped supplying them?

Can anyone help with where to get these implants as they are so important to my health and wellbeing and I really cant afford to go to london every 6 months for treatment to continue.

Hi Jeanette, this has been to the top of the organisation in the past. I have a stack of paperwork at home with regards to my last fight with NHS Lothian, when it was agreed that I should have an implant from another supplier. I have forwarded a new supplier with details of how many in box, price and shelf life to my doctor and the pharmacy team at SJH so I am hopeful they will purchase these implants which are the ones being used in Harley Street and all the London clinics.
