"SUPERB Gastroscopy"

About: St Mary's Hospital (Newport)

(as the patient),

I had a Gastroscopy (camera down throat into tummy) yesterday.

I had never been to hospital for anything in my life ever so this was a huge scary deal to me.

Unfortunately I suffered a panic attack as I arrived but the staff leapt into action and calmed me down like magic.

The procedure itself was in the end beyond easy. I was expecting something horrific but the throat spray numbed me perfectly and the sedation was like having had a few glasses of wine too many.

I felt no distress or discomfort during or after and it was over literally before I knew it.

The staff relaxed me so much and all my worry was for nothing.

I would give these people a pay rise if I could!

Afterwards I was given tea and biscuits and went home feeling very happy.

Dear Miss AR

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this valuable and positive feedback about our Gastroscopy team. I will ensure this is shared with them.

I can imagine how scared you must have been, especially for your first time in hospital; I am glad that the staff managed to calm you down, and support you through this worrying time, and I hope that should you need our services in the future you will be less anxious.

Thank you once again for your feedback.
