"I will always be grateful"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

I had a hysterectomy on the 11th April and I had been so worried about the aftercare after hearing so many negative things. However, from the moment I got onto the ward I was treated with total respect, dignity, compassion and care from all members of staff. The ward wasn't busy so that meant that staff never rushed my care or made me feel like I was wasting their time. From the cleaners to the doctors, they all made an effort to chat with me and their ability to have a sense of humour made a traumatic time (I was rushed back in via ambulance a day after discharge so actually spent 7 days there in total) much easier to deal with. Perhaps the facilities could do with some improvement and I would really have appreciated the privacy of having my own toilet but at the end of the day, it's a hospital not a hotel! They were short staffed at the weekend and I had to wait for a midwife to come up from their ward to give me my IV antibiotics which seemed a bit daft but that's not really the fault of the staff, more the system. I will always be grateful for the care I received at Lincoln and if I had to return to this ward for any reason, I wouldn't have any anxiety about it.
