My daughter was born 3 months premature at 640 grams (1.2oz). She stayed in the NICU ward for 3months and a week. The period was a very trying time for my wife and I but through it all, the staff were very helpful and caring. They were always full of encouraging words at every level of our baby's development. The staff on the ward were always polite, caring and empathetic, they gave us all the help we needed and the ability to be there for our baby as long as we could in any day and when we were there and other parent of babies on the ward were not, they still maintained a high level of professionalism and care towards other babies at all times which gave us the confidence that they were being just as nice and caring towards our own child in our absence.
We had the opportunity to ask questions and question any action we were not clear on regarding the development of our baby while they were always very good in updating us and be happy for us on every milestone our baby crosses.
All the staff, from the Nurses, resident doctors, senior doctors and consultants were awesome and a flight to be around. And for the care they showed, selfless sacrifice of their time and advices we remain extremely grateful to them when we see our daughter today and reflect on 'the beginning' of this journey that we started with them.
Thank you to all NICU staff.
