"Waiting 10 months for a consultant."

About: Alder Hey Hospital

Despite being very impressed with the care our daughter was receiving for a turn in her eye, we are becoming increasingly disillusioned by Alder Hey.

Initially, appointments were made quarterly and without fail.

Now we are at the stage where we need to see a consultant, we have been waiting 10 months. Regular check ups have stopped.

We have chased several times but received no estimates as to when we might be seen.

The wait goes on.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a message about your experience at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Please accept our apologies for the delays you and your daughter have encountered. Unfortunately, we are experiencing very long waiting times within the Ophthalmology department, but we are working hard to improve this.

In an attempt to alleviate the pressures on our waiting lists we are running additional clinics and are writing to parents again as soon as we are able to provide an appointment date.

If you haven’t already contacted the Patient Experience team, we would be very grateful for the opportunity to discuss your experience with you. Please contact Liz Edwards, Head of Patient Experience on 0151 252 5919 or email PALS@alderhey.nhs.uk
