"Safe - Very safe"

I attended for a routine day surgery procedure. I had attended in Feb and was cancelled on the day due to a chest infection. In February I was asked to change in the toilet into gown and stockings for theatre. Highly unhygienic when prepping for theatre.

The staff were lovely polite kept everyone informed. Its a bit strange that you are all herded together in the waiting room, but at least you have someone to chat to!

Id had a good chat to the consultant last time. Anaesthetics amazing. I'm asthmatic and a previous procedure at a local private hospital left me worried. I was dumped post surgery in a room with desaturating oxygen levels and left for an hour. obviously transferred from recovery too quick on that occaision as staffs home time.

On this admission I was given morphine post op, the recovery nurse quickly realised this and gave o2, kept me in there for maybe a good hour as gave 2nd morphine dose and oxygen levels dipped again. This was also picked up by ward staff who gave me nasal oxygen just to help. Quite the opposite from the private hospital!

The staff nurse looking after me read out my theatre notes to me to keep me informed. When it became apparent the procedure I had booked in for had not been completed they contacted the consultant who came spent a good amount of time explaining things. The consultant also advised about my future care and what to expect.

I felt very safe and a complete contrast to my poor experience privately. They had my dodgy asthmatic lungs covered. Nothing to grumble about
