"The medical care that I received ..."

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The medical care that I received in the Accident and emergency dept was very good, as staff were very professional and friend;y.

What could be improved

Absolutely everything, to be honest, I did initially think that a hospital was there to make people feel better, but in my experience I was left feeling distressed and extremely upset, as I was not treated by the Mental health crisis team in particular with any respect, dignity or understanding. Some nurses from this team in particular were extremely disrespectful, prejudgemental and to be honest nasty to me as a patient.

These nurses did not seem to have any understanding about my particular illness, of anorexia nervosa, they asked inappropriate questions and did not seem to care less about my well fare, as I tried to walk out of the room because I did not want to engage with them anymore I fell over as I was so weak, and they did not even offer to help me back into the wheelchair that I was meant to be in. They just stood there and stared, I had never felt so humiliated in my life!! The nursing staff from the crisis team did not seem to believe anything I said, they did not listen to what I had to say, and showed no interest in me and my illness of anorexia, and would not listen to me when I tried to tell them that I dont have hallucinations, or experience a typical schizophrenia symptoms.

And then lastly is it not within the nhs protocol to remove any cannula from a patient before they go home.... it obviously is not important as mine was left in by the nursing staff.

Anything else?

I shall be writing to my mp in particular about this ill treatment that I have received as it has drastically effected my health and well being.
