"Culture of poor patient communication and waiting"

About: Western General Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

Great individuals work for the NHS but I think that it is monolithic nature and structure is not patient centered. Ridiculous delays add to problems - been kept waiting for hours (and tying up a hospital bed) waiting for a simple blood test result. In my experience, to push or question this is met with an automatic response of how busy everyone is. Lying in bed waiting over 40 mins for a painkiller when some of the staff staff were laughing and joking and sharing gossip. Being sent home with a cannula in place happneed to me and two other people I know. Actually i took my own out but waited another 20 mins for sticking plaster. It's such a shame - I always supported the NHS until I had cause to use it.
