Operation went well, inpatient experience was good but discharge information leaves a lot to be desired.
Dressings were few and too small, info on a further bleed, especially as patient on blood thinners, non existent. Not only this hospital, but others too. Too little information should you bleed and how to deal with it.
Result: ambulance called; attendance of paramedic and ambulance staff.
This could and should be improved so that patients know what to do for the best instead of leaving everything unknown. It could save so much time and money.
More importantly, explain to patient what to do if suspected infection occurs. What they should do, who to contact and where to go for help. Don't just say phone 111. No GP call out, so what's a patient and carer to do?
