"Terrible service"

Had appointment booked via nhs 111 for 9 30 am now bear in mind they open at 9 am, I waited for an hour 15 mins before I asked why the wait and was informed by reception that nhs can't book appointments. A complete joke

Response from New Birmingham Dental Hospital

I am sorry you had a disappointing experience during your visit to the Birmingham Dental Hospital.

Patients who require urgent dental care and who are unable to book an appointment with a high street dentist (General Dental Practitioner) are welcome to phone NHS 111 to book an appointment at Birmingham Dental Hospital.

Unfortunately it sounds like you may have arrived at the hospital with an appointment, and did not register with the reception staff but took a seat to wait to be called.

When you spoke to a member of staff after waiting 15 minutes you were advised that the hospital does not book patients for this service (which is correct, appointments are booked by NHS 111); however it is not clear whether you missed the appointment as made through 111 or whether there was a further break down in communication and you were not seen at all.

If you were not seen, and still require an appointment please phone NHS 111 again to book another appointment, and when you arrive at the hospital please speak to a receptionist on the ground floor.

To help us understand how this happened to you, and to avoid it happening to others, I would be grateful if you would give me a call on 0121 466 7128 or email alison.last@bhamcommunity.nhs.uk

I look forward to hearing from you

Kind regards
