"My husband Roy was admitted once ..."

About: Poole General Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

My husband Roy was admitted once again on the 5.12.2009 to B4 - he was very ill but the staff were brilliant - they allowed me to stay at his bedside all night - then the next day 6.12.2009 we were moved into the side room where they got me a recliner and I stayed at his side for 8 nights and days helping. Roy and I got to know the staff very well ( Roy was extremely ill in March and was on this ward for 7 weeks he was critical and I stayed in the same room for 5 week helping and being taught how to care for Roy when he came home) on the 14th December 2009 everyone helped fast track Roy to get home as that was his wish for christmas. We got home at 5.30pm but he passed away in my arms 15th December 2.25am. I would like to thank all the nurses on B4 Also I would like to thank the consultant and his team and all the other Drs who helped with his care. A Big thank you from the bottom of my heart I will never forget all the kindness we received and all the love and care.

Anything else?

Roy had been diagnosed with prostate cancer since 1996 at the age of 46years - The treatment and care given to him has been brilliant. In March Roy was given a chance to live or pass away - but with the brilliant surgeon he survived it was a long journey. In September Roy went into renal failire and the doctor gave him the opertunity once again of life and stent were inserted. But sadly in December his body could take no more. Everyone who had cared for Roy a big thankyou for giving me extra time with him.
