"Cannot get hold of consultant, 2 week referral..."

About: The Royal London Hospital

I am on a two week referral for an abnormality that found on my spine, this was back in March, it is now coming to May.

04/04/2016 I went to see a Consultant regarding my issue. I had to wait 2 hours to see them and it turned out to be a pointless meeting. They basically just read my MRI results which I had already known as my GP had discussed it and it stated clearly I needed a bone scan. All of which could have been arranged without my presence a wasteful appointment that could have been used on someone who had a worse condition. The purpose of this meeting was to arrange my bone scan which the Consultant didn/t to do. 2 hours wasted, 1 day taken off work.

19/04/2016 I came two weeks later to have my full consultation, after another 2 hour wait I learn the Consultant didn't book my bone scan and yet again I have learnt nothing new of my condition. They arranged an emergency bone scan the next day and didn't inform me at all of the procedure, fair enough I didn't ask as I was so frustrated with them and wanted to get out of there. They also said they would meet me in their own time on the 12th floor to discuss the results and they adamantly said they wouldn't keep me waiting.

Total: 4 hours wasted, 2 days taken off work, no new information on my condition.

20/04/2016 At the emergency bone scan I learnt I am not allowed to be near kids or pregnant ladies and shouldn't go to work. This surprised as no one informed me that the procedure will take up the whole day, thank you Dr. Total: 10 hours, 3 days taken off work, no new information.

It is now 28/04/2016 coming close to a month since I was first put on this supposed 2 week referral. I go to the 12th floor as instructed where I can't find a single manned reception desk. None of the staff can locate the Consultant. After repeated attempts to find them, phone calls, voice messages and emails no one could find the allusive Consultant. I waited yet again another 2 hours to find out no new information about whether I have a serious condition or not. Total: 12 hours wasted, 4 days taken off work, absolutely no new information.

Most ppl will think why bother complaining this is the NHS, it is overburdened however this goes beyond that. This is just simply bad service. A doctor not booking an appointment, a doctor then not showing up to an appointment all points to a bad service. The waiting was infuriating but even more so when it is absolutely pointless and you learn absolutely nothing. Even worse if you do have serious condition and you are just delayed from getting any help.

Do I expect anyone to read this: no

Do I expect the Consultant to get in touch with me: no

Will I learn more of my condition before the end of this month: no

This was a 2 week referral that has gone onto its second month. It is not nice worrying that you may have the big C (I can't even type the word it scares me that much) and have no one provide you with any information.

Please someone help me.
