My optician recommended that I attend the eye clinic urgently. Despite a hiccup with the automatic reception system, I was booked in and seen by the triage nurse within half an hour. An appointment with the consultant was made and a little over three hours later I left the clinic having had a series of examinations and laser treatment. This all occurred during the junior doctors' strike so the UHCW management and, especially, the eye clinic staff, must be commended for their professionalism and courtesy during a period of operational stress.
