"Doctor not helpful, rude and lacking manners"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

Visited eye centre at Pinderfields after going through A&E on recommendation of opticians. I have suffered with dry, swollen, irritated, stinging and red eyes for quite some time. After numerous visits to my local opticians and trying all home remedies such as warm compress, over the counter drops, daily eyelid cleansing, my symptoms have not improved. I am 24 years old. I was referred by my GP to Leeds hospital and placed on a waiting list for several months. After seeing a doctor at Leeds eye centre, I was told I didn't have dry eyes only blepharitis and needed to wash my eyes with diluted baby shampoo. This only made matters worse. My right eye became swollen and painful and I was told by optician to attend Pinderfields A&E. The consultant at A&E saw me on Thursday night and refused to let me see the ophthalmologist and laughed me out of the hospital. An appointment was made four days later at eye centre. The treatment at the eye centre left a lot to be desired. One quick look in my eye and a rude doctor telling me there was no swelling in my right eye (since this had gone down after the four day wait!) I was given more drops, a blepharitis leaflet on how to wash my eyes as I "clearly had not been doing it properly" according to the doctor... An appointment to come back in 3months and sent on my way. The doctor did not care at all. My eyes are consistently problematic and I cannot perform my job properly, nor does it look good turning up with red eyes as though I have a drink or drug problem to my employers. Since there is little recourse within the healthcare system that I pay into - maybe this review might get people to finally listen!
